    Austin Bartleson of Kennewick, Washington is a junior at Washington State University pursing a degree in Construction Management. He is currently president of the Associated Students of Construction Management and Student Ambassador for the School of Design and Construction. Austin says, “I cannot wait to contribute the rest of my life to construction and give back to the communities our work impacts as well as the sponsors who have faith in our dreams and help fund them.” His interests include hiking, biking, and snowboarding.

    Civil Engineering at Oregon State University

    Maxwell Beaudoin of Seaside, Oregon is currently a Junior at Oregon State University pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering. A two-time winner of the scholarship expressed, “This scholarship has allowed me to cultivate my engineering career and has provided unlikely opportunities as a result.” At Oregon State, Maxwell is actively involved in the American Society of Civil Engineers and was awarded College Works Painting Intern of the Year. He earned his Eagle Scout in 2015 and enjoys hiking, biking, and kayaking in his spare time.

    Garrett Childress of Gresham, Oregon is a Junior at Oregon State University majoring in Civil Engineering. A three-time recipient of the scholarship stated, “Being a recipient of the Schweiger Memorial Scholarship for the past two years has made a huge difference in making my college education an affordable experience and has allowed me to grow as an aspiring engineer.” He hopes one day to become a civil engineer or project manager and be a part of the improvement and renovation of the infrastructure in the Northwest. Garrett is currently the captain of the Oregon ASCE Steel Bridge Team and involved in intramural basketball and football. Garrett enjoys water skiing, fishing, and golfing with his friends.

  • Kacy Childress

    Mechanical Engineering at Oregon State University

    Kacy Childress of Gresham, Oregon will be a Freshman at Oregon State University majoring in Mechanical Engineering. She says, “My goal is to become a well-rounded, global-minded mechanical engineer who is able to work on a variety of problems related to energy, mechanics, and the environment.” Her high school accolades include Outstanding Junior of the Year, Math and Physics Student of the Year, and a four-year letterman in soccer and basketball. She is also a candidate to earn the International Baccalaureate diploma. Kacy’s many interests include music, watersports, and slalom skiing.

  • Nick Hossley

    Civil Engineering at Oregon State University

    Nicholas Hossley of North Bend, Oregon is a Sophomore at Oregon State University pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering and a minor in business. A three-time recipient of the scholarship, Nicholas expressed, “Getting the Schweiger Memorial Scholarship would provide me the crucial financial assistance to graduate and would help me obtain the next step in my dream of becoming an engineer in the construction industry.” He is actively involved in the American Society of Civil Engineers where he has been elected as Executive Chair for the 2016-2017 year in addition to being awarded Freshman of The Year. Nick is also a part of the Oregon State Triathlon Club and enjoys skiing, running, backpacking and mountain biking in his free time.

    Tucker Jones of Yakima, Washington is a Junior at Washington State University pursuing a degree in Construction Management. He states, “Being a recipient of the Schweiger Scholarship would enhance both my education and ultimately my career in the construction industry.” He is currently the President of the Design-Build Institute of America and Treasurer of the Mechanical Contractor Association of American Student Chapters. Tucker’s hobbies include basketball, golf, racquetball, art, and fitness.

    Colton Lavelle of Oregon City, Oregon is a Freshman at Oregon State University pursuing a degree in Construction Engineering Management. He says, “As a CEM graduate, I hope to become an asset implementing engineered structures and solutions in the field and communicating between engineers and builders.” Colton had an opportunity to travel on a mission to Cambodia and is involved with Young Life Capernaum. In his spare time, he enjoys hunting, fly fishing, and hiking.

  • Louis Nash

    Civil Engineering at University of South Flordia

    Louis Nash of Lakeland, Florida is a Junior at the University of South Florida studying Civil Engineering. A two-time recipient of the scholarship, he says, “The Schweiger Memorial Scholarship will financially assist me through college and allow me the opportunity to become a part of a company that operates with integrity and strives to help their community.” Louis is currently a member of the Marine Corps Platoon Leaders Class which will allow him to graduate college as a commissioned Marine Corps Officer. Louis hopes to become a combat engineer and later work for a heavy civil marine construction company. His many interests include playing rugby, working out, and meeting new people.

  • Jackson Pool

    Construction Engineering Technology at Montana State University

    Jackson Pool of Ketchikan, Alaska will be a Freshman at Montana State University pursuing a degree in Construction Engineering Technology. He aspires to be a construction manager to make a positive impact on the islands of Southeast Alaska and to work with his family of engineers that have been in business for 41 years. In High School, he was involved in the National Honor Society, National Society of High School Scholars, and Varsity American Legion Baseball. Of the Schweiger Memorial Scholarship, he says, “It opens doors for myself that will hopefully allow me to better my career choice and better myself.” Jackson’s many extracurricular interests include baseball, basketball, fishing, hunting, hiking, and skiing.

  • Samuel Rykken

    Construction Management at Washington State University

    Samuel Rykken of Spokane, Washington is a Junior at Washington State University studying Construction Management and a member of the Washington Army National Guard. He is currently the Associated General Contractors representative for Washington State University and the events coordinator of the Design Build Institute of America Student Chapter. Samuel discovered his passion for the construction industry running his own paint business one summer. In his free time, Samuel enjoys being outdoors, hiking, snowboarding, and mountain biking amongst many other activities.
