Kacy Childress of Gresham, Oregon will be a Freshman at Oregon State University majoring in Mechanical Engineering. She says, “My goal is to become a well-rounded, global-minded mechanical engineer who is able to work on a variety of problems related to energy, mechanics, and the environment.” Her high school accolades include Outstanding Junior of the Year, Math and Physics Student of the Year, and a four-year letterman in soccer and basketball. Nick is also a part of the Oregon State Triathlon Club and enjoys skiing, running, backpacking and mountain biking in his free time.

A two-time recipient of the scholarship, he says, “The Schweiger Memorial Scholarship will financially assist me through college and allow me the opportunity to become a part of a company that operates with integrity and strives to help their community.” Louis is currently a member of the Marine Corps Platoon Leaders Class which will allow him to graduate college as a commissioned Marine Corps Officer. Louis hopes to become a combat engineer and later work for a heavy civil marine construction company. His many interests include playing rugby, working out, and meeting new people.

Jackson Pool of Ketchikan, Alaska will be a Freshman at Montana State University pursuing a degree in Construction Engineering Technology. He aspires to be a construction manager to make a positive impact on the islands of Southeast Alaska and to work with his family of engineers that have been in business for 41 years. In High School, he was involved in the National Honor Society, National Society of High School Scholars, and Varsity American Legion Baseball. Of the Schweiger Memorial Scholarship, he says, “It opens doors for myself that will hopefully allow me to better my career choice and better myself.” Jackson’s many extracurricular interests include baseball, basketball, fishing, hunting, hiking, and skiing.
